Grameen Development Services (GDS) is a leading field-based Non-Government Development Organisation established in 1993, with its head office in Lucknow. GDS executes various thematic interventions around livelihood strengthening focusing on improving the quality of life of poor and disadvantaged sections of the society in the most backward and poverty-stricken regions within North India. The organization currently works in six locations across Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Key Responsibility
✔ The mobilization and empowerment of the community to increase incomes from bovine (buffaloes and cows) and small ruminants (goats)
✔ Carefully understanding the project design and Managing the livestock development component of the project.
✔ Identification of potential candidates, organizing and facilitating proper training, and hand-holding support to the Paravets.
✔ Training of the team and Paravets on various fronts of Improved Animal Health Management.
✔ Create a business ecosystem for Paravets for essential livestock management support and services
✔ Liaison with the government departments for scheme convergence to ensure maximum benefit for the community
✔ Preparation of the household plan and monitoring of the activities
✔ Preparing reports, and case studies as needed
✔ Documentation of the success stories, and learnings from actions
Qualification and Skills Required
✔ Master’s Degree in Veterinary Science B.Sc. Agriculture and passion for working with marginalized communities.
✔ Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in livestock management, and basic veterinary services at the grassroots level.
✔ Community-managed livestock development with a particular focus on feed improvement in dairy animals and artificial insemination
✔ Ambitious, energetic, and hard-working professional committed to improving lives among India’s most marginalized communities. Must share a sense of urgency about development.
✔ Excellent documentation, communication, and presentation skills in English and Hindi (both written and verbal)
✔ Proficient with MS Office, especially MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Database Management
✔ Ability to multitask and work well with multiple stakeholders, internal and external
✔ Willingness to be based in Shravasti, Uttar Pradesh, and travel extensively in the project area.
