Job Description: Senior Horticulturist (10+ Years of Experience)

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Horticulturist with 10+ years of expertise in plant cultivation, landscape management, and sustainable horticulture. The ideal candidate will lead horticultural projects, research plant health solutions, and develop sustainable green spaces for urban and rural environments.

As a horticulture expert, you will work on landscape design, nursery management, plant conservation, and urban greening projects, collaborating with architects, environmentalists, and government agencies to create eco-friendly and aesthetically appealing green spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Horticulture & Landscape Management

  • Design and manage large-scale horticulture projects, including parks, gardens, and green spaces.
  • Oversee nursery operations, plant propagation, and greenhouse management.
  • Select and cultivate native, climate-resilient, and ornamental plant species.
  • Implement sustainable irrigation, soil conservation, and organic farming techniques.

2. Urban Greening & Environmental Conservation

  • Develop eco-friendly landscapes for residential, commercial, and public spaces.
  • Work with urban planners and architects to integrate horticulture into sustainable city planning.
  • Plan and execute reforestation, vertical gardens, rooftop gardens, and green belt development.
  • Promote pollution-reducing plant species for urban environments.

3. Research & Plant Health Management

  • Conduct research on plant nutrition, disease control, and pest management.
  • Implement biological pest control and organic farming solutions.
  • Develop innovative solutions for drought-resistant and climate-adaptive plant species.
  • Lead research in soil health, water management, and sustainable crop production.

4. Leadership & Project Execution

  • Lead teams of horticulturists, landscapers, and field workers.
  • Manage budgets, procurement, and contracts for large-scale horticultural projects.
  • Work with government agencies, environmental organizations, and private developers.
  • Secure funding and grants for horticulture research and development.

5. Education & Public Outreach

  • Conduct training programs and workshops for horticulturists, farmers, and landscape designers.
  • Publish research findings in scientific journals and horticulture forums.
  • Promote awareness of sustainable gardening, organic farming, and urban forestry.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Ph.D. or Master’s in Horticulture, Botany, Plant Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years in horticulture, landscaping, or sustainable agriculture.

Technical Expertise:

  • Expertise in plant propagation, landscape design, and greenhouse management.
  • Knowledge of organic farming, plant nutrition, and integrated pest management.
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping, soil analysis, and climate-resilient horticulture.

Leadership & Project Management:

  • Experience in leading large-scale horticultural projects.
  • Ability to manage teams, budgets, and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Strong background in research, innovation, and policy development.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹50,000.00 – ₹100,000.00 per month

Schedule:
